Minoxidil Liniment
This product is indicated for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (male pattern hair loss) and alopecia areata.
This product is a dermatological over-the-counter (OTC) drug.
Minoxidil Liniment 5%: Each bottle contains minoxidil 3.0 g. Excipients: propylene glycol, ethanol, purified water. Minoxidil Liniment 2%: Each bottle contains minoxidil 1.2 g. Excipients: propylene glycol, ethanol, purified water.
Minoxidil Liniment 5%: 5% (60 mL : 3.0 g)
Minoxidil Liniment 2%: 2% (60 mL : 1.2 g)
Minoxidil is a peripheral vasodilator. When applied topically over the long term, it can stimulate hair growth in patients with androgenetic alopecia and alopecia areata. The exact mechanism by which this product treats hair loss remains unclear. Clinical studies have demonstrated that topical application in normotensive individuals and untreated hypertensive patients does not produce systemic effects attributable to minoxidil absorption.
Most patients can achieve results lasting 6–9 months following a course of treatment.
