Dear Secretary, President, beloved professors, and my fellow alumni:
Good morning!
It is a great honor, and I am truly grateful to my alma mater for inviting me to attend this solemn and special graduation ceremony today.
First and foremost, as an alumna, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the graduates here today. Congratulations on completing your studies, and I wish you boundless ambition and soaring dreams. May you ride the winds and chase your future without regret!
When I received the invitation from my alma mater, I kept wondering: what should I share with you? As I look out into the crowd now, I see your vibrant youth and the brilliance of your dreams—it takes me back to four decades ago when I was just like you, full of energy and hope.
Dear graduates, your education and growth here will become the foundation of your future—fueling your ambitions and expanding your vision. For this, I am deeply grateful to the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), and immensely proud of the remarkable transformations our university has achieved.
I still remember the lines from our school song: “Pioneers of trade, voyaging across five continents.” UIBE’s international focus and professional strengths in languages and trade have long aligned with China’s mission of building a strong trading nation, and they have also instilled in generations of students the responsibility to connect China with the world.
Due to the nature of my work, I frequently travel internationally. Despite the convenience of today’s digital communication, I still prioritize face-to-face interactions with partners. I firmly believe that nothing can replace the emotional connection and warmth of in-person encounters.
Today, I want to share with you a theme I call “The Power of Seeing”—and how this power shapes our professional lives.
In 1985, I graduated from UIBE and began my career at COFCO, one of China’s largest state-owned trading companies. Compared to the structured environment of university life, the real world is like an ocean—vast, unpredictable, and full of challenges.
My work involved international trade negotiations, where I witnessed firsthand China’s determination to open up to the world. Seeing the advanced platforms and global management systems abroad filled me with wonder—and a burning desire to understand the world more deeply. That passion drove me to embark on a 13-year journey working overseas.
The first key phrase I want to share is: “See the world.”
The power of seeing the world gave me the courage to break free from my comfort zone, to step into the unknown, and to pursue my dreams fearlessly.
But life abroad brought stark realities. Transitioning from representing China in bulk commodity deals to managing the full logistics of goods myself was an enormous challenge. Still, I reminded myself that I had chosen this path. No matter the difficulty ahead, I would persevere with tenacity and faith.
Through trial and error, I engaged in various forms of trade—from importing and wholesaling to re-exporting. I applied nearly everything I had learned at UIBE. These valuable experiences laid the groundwork for my future entrepreneurial journey.
The second key phrase I’d like to share is: “See yourself.”
In chasing our dreams, it is often the dazzling diversity of the world that motivates us to move forward. Yet the road is never smooth. We will inevitably face hardships and setbacks. In those moments, it is essential to face ourselves honestly—hold onto our beliefs, turn dreams into ideals, and continue to nurture them until they take root and grow, becoming the source of our inner strength.
Steve Jobs once said, “Stay hungry, stay foolish.” I’ve always believed in two “keeps” in my journey: keep curiosity and keep going. Or, in a more elegant Chinese expression: “Seek truth and act with resolve”—a reflection of our school’s motto.
With curiosity, we explore the unknown and discover new possibilities. With persistence, we overcome obstacles and realize our ambitions.
Dear fellow UIBE graduates, your alma mater—equipped with a global academic vision, solid professional foundation, and exceptional faculty—has paved the way for you to engage with the world. Let UIBE be your launchpad, and the world your compass. When you see the world and see yourself clearly, the world will, in turn, see you.
I majored in English as an undergraduate and later pursued a graduate degree in business administration. After graduation, I made the bold decision to leave a central state-owned enterprise and start my own business. From bulk commodities to textiles, and now the medical and health industry—each career shift was driven by my unwavering curiosity about the world.
Not long ago, I visited the second-largest children’s hospital in Europe and engaged with researchers studying time-release chemotherapy. While this area isn’t directly related to our current business, their dedication to fundamental medical research and their commitment to improving patient outcomes left a lasting impression. This encounter will, no doubt, become a spark—illuminating unexplored territory on my map of knowledge. Just like the moment I first witnessed the incredible effects of dermal fillers.

And finally—the third phrase I want to share is: “See the future.”
Successful enterprises are never built overnight. They are born from foresight and innovation—seizing opportunities in each new era. When I founded Imeik, I set out to build an innovative enterprise and create a national brand. At the time, we had no revenue and were investing heavily in R&D. Every step felt like walking in the dark, filled with uncertainty.
But after five years of relentless innovation, we achieved a breakthrough: our first product received regulatory approval. Later, our signature product Hearty reached commercial success. As a patented product, it was well received in the market, and we continue to lead through innovation.
In our pursuit of the future, we never stop. We are now actively expanding into global markets, following the Belt and Road Initiative, and setting our sights on new frontiers.
As I look back over the past 40 years since graduation, I’ve witnessed China’s transformation under reform and opening-up. I’ve been not only a witness and beneficiary, but also a participant and builder. Dear graduates, your personal journeys will inevitably intertwine with the trajectory of national development. I hope you will nurture your dreams in this era of great promise, align your actions with the spirit of the times, and thrive with it.
I graduated in 1985 and started my business in 2004. After 16 years of perseverance, Imeik went public in 2020. People often ask me what the hardest moment was. I tell them: “Every day is the hardest day”. There is no “most difficult” day—only tougher ones ahead.
Life is a wondrous journey—filled with hope, adventure, and discovery. Only by constantly exploring can we see the world. Only by taking risks can we see ourselves. Only by pushing our limits can we see the future. It is through seeing that we believe. And through seeing, that we gain strength.
To this day, I still dedicate over 12 hours a day to my work, traveling the world each month. Regardless of how the world changes or how economies evolve, there is no guaranteed success, and no industry is forever easy. The market is always shifting. Only the adaptable survive. Don’t fear competition—there is always room for winners in every race.
Finally, I want to say to all of you:
May you have the courage to explore the world, the vitality of youth, and a deep love for your country. In this vast and vibrant era, may you see yourself clearly, find your path, and grow through practice and reflection. As long as you keep striving forward, you will always—through seeing—become your best self.
Congratulations on your graduation. May your future be bright and boundless!
